Trauma

When surviving becomes exhausting.

Trauma is a word that often gets misunderstood. What is trauma? Did you know there is a difference between little "t" traumas and big "T" traumas?

Big "T" traumas are experiences that most people would recognize as traumatic, such as abuse, violence, serious accidents, the sudden loss of a loved one, or natural disasters. Little "t" traumas are often less obvious, but they can still have a significant impact on how we see ourselves, others, and the world. For example, little "t" trauma might look like moving frequently and never feeling like you truly have a place to call home, growing up feeling emotionally unseen, or experiencing turbulent relationships that have left you feeling disconnected from yourself.

Trauma therapy is often woven into the work we do because trauma isn't always obvious. Whether your experiences feel "big" or "small," they can still affect your nervous system, relationships, confidence, and daily life.

Trauma therapy always starts with safety. Creating a space where you feel emotionally and physically safe, this is one of our highest priorities. Our relationship with you comes first, because healing happens best when you feel supported, understood, and accepted. From the moment you walk through our doors, we want you to experience a sense of calm and know that you don't have to navigate this journey alone.

You don't have to have it figure it out alone

You don’t need to know exactly what to say or what you want to work on before reaching out. We can start with a conversation and figure out what support could look like together.

There’s no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We take the time to understand you—your story, your patterns, what you’ve been carrying, and where you want to grow. Together, we’ll create a counselling experience that feels human, supportive, and uniquely yours

Our Approach

Connection First.

Before any technique or intervention, we focus on building a genuine relationship with you. From there, our work is guided by three core principles:

Humanistic

You are more than a diagnosis or a list of symptoms. We see you as a whole person and believe you already have strengths, resilience, and the capacity for growth. Our role is to walk alongside you, not tell you who you should be.

Relational

Healing happens through connection. We value authenticity and believe that feeling genuinely seen, heard, and understood is one of the most important parts of therapy. The relationship we build together matters.

Trauma-Informed

Safety comes first. We understand that past experiences can shape how you see yourself, others, and the world. We move at your pace, honour your boundaries, and strive to create an environment where you feel emotionally and physically safe throughout your therapy journey.
